Like many parks around the world, Crocheron & John Golden Park is particularly meaningful for local school children and their families. The Western end of the park, adjacent to PS 41 the Crocheron School, is a uniquely special part of the parkland.

Originally part of the New Deal Era construction of Crocheron Park, in the 1999 the Playground on 33rd Avenue was renamed and renovated. It is renamed after the community leader and local resident, Buz O'Rourke, for his dedication to his community and his local park.

The street has also been renamed, after beloved local science teacher Mrs. Geri Climi. Friends of Crocheron & John Golden Park is continuing this tradition of honoring our mentors and community advocates by transforming the Crocheron Park garden bed along the street into a the Mrs. Climi Native Plant Garden.
