In the 20+ years since, the playground has started to fall apart. The matting around the play structures has become a tripping hazard for people of all ages. While the play structures flake chipping paint onto tiny hands... and the kids sometimes taste it, because kids. Also, in the last 20 years, here have been heaps of improvements for play structures, to provide interactive play and ensure inclusion for all. Sandy beach, locally sourced from a private homeowner's retaining wall that failure after flooding caysed by Hurricane Ida. Environmental degradation can be kinda cute sometimes, I guess. Sadly, NYC Parks does not have funding to clean this up. Leaving the pond damaged with more gunk and a lower water level along with the woodland area covered with unnatural sand. We are thrilled to announce that @akebma_yoga_art is now an instructor through NYC Parks Fitness! She is now leading classes in Crocheron on Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. - thank you so much to Ambeka for her ongoing committment to Our Park Community! Friends' members had written down a goals in 2021, and it included having yoga classes - within 6 months Ambeka came out to an event and offered to volunteer her skills. This weekly class is a wonderful addition to @nycparks Fitness Classes offered in CD-19. We do not have a recreation center in our district- so these outdoor classes and classes at Bayside @qplnyc are key way to keep our community healthy. Ambeka is going to continue teaching the Friends' monthly Saturday classes - signup for that and our special #internationalyogaday class next Wednesday, June 21st is on our website, crocheronpark.org/yoga . #parksdontjusthappen #ourpark #yogainthepark

Thank you to everyone thay came out, shout out to Ambeka, Bonnie and @queensyvc for sticking it out and volunteering on a rainy day. We had a great yoga class with @akebma_yoga_art , our first time inside the Tennis Court House. Thank you to Ambeka for helping give the floor a deep clean before the class, to make it into more of a yoga studio. And we also had a first event using our ponchos, first time cleaning the interior of the Tennis Court House, and first time serving sandwiches to our volunteers. Thank you to @cmvpaladino for the funds that allowed us to have an amazing rainy day event. Amazing to have their support as our Premier Sponsor and work during the giveback workout we get into at Crocheron! Shout out to Patty for coming out, she is a Friends volunteer and a volunteer community laision for @cmvpaladino, whose support for our programs has helped us purchase tools and feed volunteers.
