Concerts at Our Park

In 1967, 200 members of the Metropolitan concert Oprea, including orchestra, chorus and principals, performed for an estimated 35,000 people at Crocheron Park. With the large cliffs and hill surrounding the pond, Crocheron Park is a wonderful place for a performance. The landscape creates a natural amphitheater.

Jan Behr conducted the orchestra and chorus. Mayor Lindsay attended, and during his speech, he reminded reporters that the city's taxpayer contributed $250,000 for the nine free concert-operas in parks, with Crocheron Park being the first that season.
